Chasing your is dream is fun, fulfilling and rewarding...it is also EXPENSIVE!! Start up costs, unexpected add on's, hidden costs...it all adds up! So here are five simple ways to save money and help keep you and your wallet on the strait and narrow when it comes to cash flow.
.) GET CREATIVE - Start thinking about ways you can either save money, or MAKE money. Have dinner at your parents house a night or two a week instead of going out for dinner, make something out of scraps and left over materials and sell it online, sell old clothes, make your coffee at home, the list goes on...
.) RECYCLE - It is so hard for me to throw out my scraps of fabric because I know the time and money that went into dying it in the first place. I recently sold the scraps of my silk to another artist located in PEI, and she is going to make earnings out of the scraps of silk!
.) CUT BACK - Take something simple in your life that you don't think adds up to very much money. Think about how many times a week you eat out, or coffees you buy. Then do the math. How much does that add up to each week? How much does that add up to each month? Then take that money and put it in a savings account.
.) TRICK YOURSELF - Some banks will allow you to set up your bank account so that every time you purchase something on your debit card it will round up, and that extra money will go into a separate bank account (like a savings account). For example, if you buy something that is $9.90 you will actually pay $10.00 and that extra ten cents goes right into your bank account. Such an easy way for you to save money and not even realize it.
.) SQUIRREL AWAY - If you are having a good month, pay ahead on one or more bills. I have paid ahead so much on my phone bill (both intentionally and accidentally) that I now have a huge credit with the company. So now, If I have a few hard months I don't need to worry about paying that bill.
