It is always good to be unique and to find new shooting locations, but sometimes its best to not fix something that isn't broken. Fredericton offers some unique infrastructure and picturesque scenery that is too good to pass up on. If you are looking to shoot at a location that is iconic to the area, here are my top five picks that are truly, well, Fredericton!
1.) THE WALKING BRIDGE - a classic shooting spot for wedding and engagement shoots, not to mention plenty of selfies as people stop to take in the beautiful sight of the river and the cathedral located right off the south side of the walking bridge. This location is truly iconic and 100% identifiable as Fredericton.
2.) THE PEDWAY - offers another beautiful bridge to shoot on located near the light house and the Fredericton library. There is also a small platform on one side of the pedway where you can stop and set up shop.
3.) PARKS- Fredericton is littered with parks. Odell park is a clear choice for photos. It has tons of trees with unique and twisted trunks, fields full of flowers, and walking trails lined with nature.
4.) THE SOLDIER'S BARRACKS - A lot of residents of Fredericton have never visited the barracks located in downtown Fredericton, but it is a Fredericton relic all the same. The Barracks were built in 1827 by the British Army to house more than 200 British soldiers.
5.) KILLARNY LAKE - It may not be the ocean, but Killarny Lake is a classic Fredericton hang out spot. Most people who grew up in Fredericton visited the lake frequently in the summer time to cool down and walk the trails surrounding the lake.
**BONUS- Parking garages! I have done a couple of photo shoots in Fredericton's parking garages downtown and I love the urban feel of them! Whether you go on the rooftop, or linger on the main level, a parking garage adds a super cool feel to your photo session.
I would love to know if you have ever shot at any of these locations, and if you have any other shooting spots that represent Fredericton to you.
