It is so frustrating when people don't understand what I do. Like, seriously. How many pictures do I have to post, and blogs do I have to write before everyone will GET IT!?!?!?!?!?! It doesn't matter how solid my 30 second elevator pitch is, or who I partner with, or where I travel to...some people just don't get it. And that is NOT OK with me.
Why am I (begrudgingly) grateful for this though? Because it pushes me. This frustration I feel towards the friends, family, coworkers, in-laws, business associates...it makes me better. I won't stop doing what I am doing until those around me GET what myself and other creatives are trying to do here. Art is important.
No I am not "hippy dippy." No I do not do this as a "hobby." What I am doing is special. It takes time, and skill, and passion. What WE are doing as artists/entrepreneurs in the East Coast...it MATTERS! We are past the days of living as poor starving artists. We are business people. We are culture. We are innovators, problem solvers, motivators, hard workers, revolutionaries, job creators, inspirers. We are the future.
It is my goal to really firm up my dream and nail down my vision so that people will not only understand what I do, but also understand the bigger picture.
