A look back...

Three years ago, just after hurricane Arthur, I helped style my first high fashion photoshoot with silk I dyed. The shoot took place in the vacant building where Craig's Auto Clinic used to be. Picaroons purchased the space to turn it into their new brewery (you might even say the building was going through a "transition" period :p). It was only fitting that my last big "hurrah," before Ryan and I moved to Toronto, should take place in this very location...the spot that started it all

An evening of fun, fashion, and glam!

On the evening of Saturday, October 28th of 2017, over one hundred people came out to support "Transition." A fashion show and magazine launch to raise money for Women In Transition Housing, the event was also meant to bring exposure to the New Brunswick fashion scene. Nine local designers showcased their designs on the runway and CreatedHere magazine launched their first ever fashion issue! The fashion looks that went down the runway were a mix of everything from high-end gowns, maternity wear, fibre art, street style, Gothic/occult, cocktail dresses and caftans. It is crazy to me the diversity that New Brunswick has to offer when it comes to local fashion. We need to be paying more attention to the local fashion scene because local designers and small businesses have A LOT to offer. If we don't support them, they will leave...

Success!

When I first started promoting the event I had no idea how many people would attend. Ticket sales started off slowly but by Friday night before the show, we had SOLD OUT! I decided I would still sell extra tickets at the door which would have to be for standing room only. Our decorators for the event, Chantilly Lace, saved our butts (literally). They brought us extra seats so we were able to have seating for approximately 120 which roughly matched our ticket sales! I couldn't believe the response. It made me so happy to know that over 100 people in the Fredericton area wanted to support local fashion, as well as Women In Transition housing who need our help so badly. (We raised $1256.00 for WIT!!!!)

Say "hello" to our sponsors!

Finally, we were so incredibly lucky to have a team of great sponsors who stepped up to the plate to volunteer their time and services in order to make sure Transition was a success. It was because of our sponsors that we were able to raise the money we did for the women and children who need our help! Check out the businesses who sponsored Transition below.

Chantilly Lace created the most gorgeous atmostphere. They decorated the space so nicely and made Transition a night to remember.

Picaroons Roundhouse, located on Fredericton's North Side, donated their facilities for the evening. They were a HUGE sponsor for our event! They let us use the space so that we could give more money back to charity. They were so organized, helpful, and the space they let us use was gorgeous. They also provided staff to work the event. Without them, this event truly would not have been possible. Photo Cred: Holly Bear Photography

DJ Travis Ford: Enduring Love Weddings hooked us up with some sick beats! He played all night long and made sure all the sound/music ran smoothly.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated door prizes and gifts for our bloggers. Also, to those who came out and supported Women In Transition as well as supported local fashion - THANK YOU. Please, please, please continue to support these small businesses. You have no idea how far a simple "share" on Facebook, or a small purchase helps these creatives out!
